May 31 and June 1st

This weekend we did some yard work and had a big fire. I discovered/uncovered a concrete pad near the entrance to the corral. At first, I was concerned that I had found an old well that the kids could fall through, but it is a big rectangle pad with no hole in the middle. Christopher brought down his new toy and had fun cutting and burning. I think it might be the big burn piles keeping him coming back week after week...that boy does love his fires. The chainsaw and the big fire made for a fun morning and the new grill made a nice lunch time. Then we got back to work on the kitchen.

Charles had to play too. He took on a thirty footer that was wrapped up with another one. Needless to say, it is still standing there and my be standing there for a while! Boys and their toys...
Destruction in this picture is almost complete. We just need to remove the bathroom ceiling and wall between the furnace and toilet. Wouldn't it be nice if we could keep the whole thing as a kitchen? But then there would be no place for a washer/dryer/hot water heater/water softener... We made a small change in the floor plan for the kitchen/utility room. We added a doorway from the kitchen to the utility room which will allow us to shut the door and keep the laundry pile from being seen in the kitchen. There is a french door that was sitting in the kitchen waiting to be installed at the top of the stairs to go on to the porch that we are going to use half of. I think we will put the opaque glass in it so we keep the light from the two windows cming into the kitchen.

Another view of the whole kitchen/laundry room/bathroom space...

This next one is funny. Blue fell off the end of the sub floor and couldn't figure out how to get out. I just had to take a picture.

And of course, the obligatory picture of the two little ones playing in the sand with a frog they found. How cute are they!!
